Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Epoxyketone compounds of the formula I [R1 is H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phenyl; R2 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, group of formula II (R3 is H, methyl, halogen)].
EXAMPLE: 3-Propargyl-4-methyl-4,5-epoxypentan-2-one.
USE: Synthetic intermediate of agricultural chemical as allethrin or drugs as prostaglandin, epecially giving advantageously cyclopentenolones that is used as an intermediate of an insecticide.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula III is oxidized with m-chlorobenzoic peracid to give the objective compound of formula I. The product is treated with a base or acid and subjected to chlorination or electrolytic oxidation in an alcohol of R4OH, followed by reaction with phenol to give readily cyclopentenolone of formula IV in high yield.
