Abstract

PURPOSE: To display the quantity of a used tape by time-converting not as a reel rotational frequency by calculating the total tape time by detecting variation per hour time of the rotation angular speed of a take-up reel.
CONSTITUTION: The expression of total tape time T0, tape remaining time T1, and tape-up reel rotation angular speed (ω) is given by T1=k(ω).T0, where k(ω) is the function of angular speed (ω). The inverse number of variation of function k(ω) of this angular speed per hour is the total tape time as it is. Namely, T0=ΔT/ΔK. Finding this total tape time T0 makes it possible to calculate remaining time T1 or use time T2 without exerting an influence upon total tape time T0 with high precision. In this constitution, the tape use quantity can accurately be displayed by time-converting not as a reel rotational frequency.
