Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a rope from laterally fluctuating and improve largely the magnetizing efficiency of the rope by forming the inner diameter of a magnetic pole piece less than three times of the outer diameter of the rope and forming the length of the magnetic pole piece longer than twice the outer diameter of the rope and less than ten times of the outer diameter of the rope.
CONSTITUTION: A rope 1 is energized by a magnetic pole piece 4 through predetermined air gap g'. A magnetic exciter 2 is formed substantially in U shape. A detecting coil 9 detects the leakage magnetic flux produced at the defective portion of the rope 1. After the detected leakage flux is amplified by an amplifier 10, it is recorded on a recorder 11. The inner diameter D of the magnetic pole piece 4 is formed less than three time of the outer diameter d of the rope 1, and the length l of the magnetic pole piece 4 is formed longer than twice the outer diameter d of the rope 1 and less than 10 times thereof.
