Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the speed of TIG welding and improve the quality of welded joints by directing the TIG arc forward along the welding advance direction thereby sufficiently preheating unwelded base metals in a DC TIG welding method.
CONSTITUTION: In the DC TIG welding method, a filler 6 is on the side backward of the welding advance direction W and while it is being supplied in the arrow Y direction, its end is held dipped in molten pool 7. Here, the welding base metal 1 is made positive pole and a non-consumable electrode 2 negative pole. With respect to the current to be flowed to the filler 6, the filler 6 is made positive pole and the base metal 1 negative pole. Hence, mutually repelling magnetic fields generate around the electrode 2 and filler 6 and the arc 3 having flexibility deflects so as to go apart from the filler 6, thereby preheating the base metal 1 and increasing the welding speed. At this time, the current of the electrode 2 is made 500A or less and the current of the filler 6 200A or less. Magnetic fields are changed by flowing pulsation to the filler 6 and weaving of the arc 3 is accomplished by the change thereof.
