Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the bearing load capacity and elongate the use life of the bearing by locating a roller and face contact portion of the shell case outer peripheral edge below a spider shaft end face contact portion and increasing the effective contact length of the needle rollers which bear the outer peripheral surface of the spider shaft. CONSTITUTION:A shell case 3 is fixed in a bearing hole 2 at the yoke end portion 1 of a Cardan joint. On the inner peripheral side of the shell case 3 are arranged needle rollers 5 which bear the outer peripheral surface of a spider 4. The outer peripheral edge 3a of the bottom face of the shell case 3 is made planar, an expansion portion 3b is formed in the inner peripheral portion of the edge 3a, and the central portion 3c is projected toward the end face of the spider shaft 4 to support it. As a result, the roller end face contact portion of the edge 3a of the shell case 3 locates below the spider shaft end face contact portion of the projection 3c, so that the effective contact length of the rollers bearing the spider shaft 4 can be increased.
