Abstract
PURPOSE:To make roll changing easy by laying rails only between the inside walls of the housings and mounting roll-changing wheels to chock boxes at a spacing more than the thickness of the housing. CONSTITUTION:Roll-changing rails 4 are laid only between the inside walls of housings 1, 14 and wheels 10, 11 and 12, 13 are mounted in chock boxes 3, 9 in such a manner that the spacing in the axial direction of the roll 2 becomes more than the thickness of the housings. When the wheel 12 which had supported the chock box 9 moves into the window of the housing 14 upon moving of the roll 2 in the axial direction during roll changing and no more supports its load, then the wheel 13 rides on the rail of the roll exchanging table and support the chock box 9. At this time, the roll 2 and chock boxes 3, 9 are supported by the wheels 11, 13, whereby roll exchanging is accomplished rapidly and readily. In addition, the maintenance of the cylinder in the project block is accomplished more readily.
