Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the number of the parts of a cooling air ventilator in a gas cooling rotary electric machine by providing a slot for communicating the end of a retainer ring provided at the end of the rotor with a cooling air exhaust chamber and closing the end of the slot by a cover plate to thereby form a cooling air exhaust passage.
CONSTITUTION: In a device for cooling the winding 3 at the end of a rotor of a rotary electric machine by cooling gas, gas introduced into a gas inlet chamber 17 is introduced into two gas exhaust chambers 10, 11 divided by a peripheral partion wall 13 and an axial partition wall 14 through respective passages 12, respectively to thus cool the winding 3. Then, the cooling air of the first gas exhaust chamber 10 is exhausted through a passage formed by a slot 8a provided at the end of a retainer ring 2 from a passage 5 and a cover plate 9b for closing the end surface,while the cooling air of the second gas exhaust chamber 17 is exhausted through a fan 9 from the slot of the rotor shaft 1. Since the slot 8a thus operates also as a fan, it can reduce the number of parts.
