Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An aniline derivative of formula I (R1 is lower alkyl group, etc.; R2 is H or lower alkyl group; R3 is lower alkyl, halogen, etc.; n is an integer 0W5; Y is O or S, Z is 1W8C alkylene group, etc.).
EXAMPLE: N-(3-Phenethyloxyphenyl)propion-amide.
USE: Herbicides and fungicides having improved herbicidal actions, particularly in treatment after germination, and control effects on blights of agricultural and horticultural crops.
PROCESS: An aniline derivative of formula II is reacted with a reactive derivative of of an acid or carbonic acid monoester of formula III, e.g. an acid halide or anhydride, to give the title compound of formula I. An acid halide as the derivative is heated in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent, e.g. pyridine or an alkali carbonate, in a solvent, e.g. benzene or THF, at 0W100°C to give the title compound in high yield.
