Abstract

PURPOSE: To ignite and pierce instantly without requiring separate ignition means or preheating process, by striking an arc between the metal material to be cut and the wire sent forward to the piercing position when starting gas cutting.
CONSTITUTION: A wire 6 is sent forward to the position of piercing (initial opening when cutting) of metal material to be cut 1 such as spiral steel pipe, and flammable gas containing oxygen and high pressure oxygen are injected from a nozzle 10 of a blow pipe 2. At the same time, power is fed to the wire 6 through a cable 9, and an arc is ignited between the wire 6 and the metal material 1. By using this arc heat, the metal material is instantly pierced without requiring preheat, at the same time, the flammable gas mixed with oxygen is ignited with the arc without using other ignition means.
