Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the treatment of waste water rapidly and at low cost by the procedure in which waste water containing surfactants is pretreated by frothing it by pressurization and then residual surfactants are adsorbed or decomposed.
CONSTITUTION: An original waste water containing surfactants from laundry, etc., is first introduced into the pressure frothing tank 1 where frothing is brought about by compressed air from the air sparger 4 at the lower part, and then the froth B floatlng on the tank liquor W is transferred to the defoamer 6 for defoaming and vapor-liquor separation, where approx. 80% of the surfactants present are removed. On the other hand, the primary treatment water from the bottom of the tank 1 is introduced into the adsorber 10 or the decomposer 19 in order to remove more than 95% of surfactants present. Thus, the pretreatment such as frothing and defoaming enables one to improve greatly the treating perfoamance and speed of the treatment system.
