Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the catalyst due to poisoning and increase the life thereof, by using a lead alloy containing predetermined quantities of antimony and arsenic for the positive electrode lattice and pure lead or a lead alloy containing neither antimony nor arsenic for the negative lattice. CONSTITUTION:In a lead storage battery with a catalyst plug, there are used a positive electrode lattice comprising a Pb-Sb-type alloy containing more than 3wt% of Sb and a small quantity of As, and a negative electrode lattice comprising pure lead or a Pb-alloy containing neither Sb nor As. With this construction, the charge- discharge cycle life can be improved, and moreover the life of the catalyst plug can be improved because the amount of produced stibine is made small, thus no maintenance will be required for a long period.
