Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain acrolein or methacrolein in high yield, by oxidizing propylene, isobutylene, or tert-butanol with O2 in the presence of a specific catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene, isobutylene, or tert-butanol is oxidized with O2 in the presence of a catalyst of the formula (X is at least one element selected from K, Tl, Rb and Cs; e is the sum of the number of elements when X' are two or more types of elements; Y is at least one type of element selected from Si and B; f is the sum of the number of elements when Y's are two or more types of elements; a is 0.05W5; b is 0.05W10; c is 0.05W5; d is 0.1W10; e is 0.01W2; f is 0W4; g is the number of O atoms to satisfy the valence of other atoms) to give the objective substance.
EFFECT: Suppressed by-product formation of isobutylaldehyde, great safety and economic advantage without using elements poisonous to catalysts.
