Abstract

PURPOSE: For simple and safe treatment of ash containing sulfate of NH3, such ash is added with heat medium of heat resistant granules and heated to thereby remove sulfate of NH3 from the ash.
CONSTITUTION: Ash 1 containing sulfate of NH3 collected by an electric dust collector and heat resistant granules heated to about 800°C or higher in the fluid layer furnace 4 are mixed in the kiln 2 and heated. The mixture in the kiln 2 is heated to about 350W400°C to allow sulfate of NH3 to be thermally decompsed into NH3 and SO3. The SO3 reacts with slaked lime contained in the ash or with lime added later to the ash and forms into gypsum, thus being solidified. NH3 is sucked through the outlet of the kiln 2 and recovered. NH3-free ash and granules are discharged from the kiln 2 and separated by the vibrating sieve 3 into the ash and granules. The granules are returned to the furnace 4 and heated in fluid condition by burnt gas of fuel 6 and air 7.
