Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a picture outline extraction method which outputs the output of a vidicon camera as equal density outline signals and can operate in real-time when the density of video signals outputted from the vidicon camera is between threshold levels which are set previously and are close to each other.
CONSTITUTION: In respect to video signals dependent upon a vidicon camera, brightness is increased gradually according as going to the center side from other parts 1. When a region more bright than other parts 1 and darker than the part of region 3 is extracted, a picture corresponding to region 2 is obtained. This picture is obtained easily by setting threshold levels V1 and V2 for video signals at every one scanning and taking out signals between these threshold levels as outline signals. A very clear outline picture can be obtained by causing threshold levels V1 and V2 to approach each other as close as possible.
