Abstract

PURPOSE: To prolong the service life of a catalyst and a denitration apparatus by previously heat-exchanging exhaust gas from a boiler with the catalyst in the denitration apparatus at the time of starting of operation to elevate the temperature of the catalyst and prevent the deterioration thereof.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of starting of the operation of a boiler 1, valves 5, 7 to 9 are closed, valves 6, 10 are opened and a preheater 4 for air is operated to heat exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides. When air at the outlet of the preheater 4 reaches about 200°C, the valves 8, 9 are opened and the valve 10 is closed. The pre-heating is continued until the temperature of a catalyst in a denitration apparatus 3 reaches above 120°C. After the completion of the pre-heating, the valve 10 is opened and the valves 8, 9 are closed. Then the valves 5, 7 are opened, the valve 6 is closed and the exhaust gas is subjected to a denitration reducing reaction in the denitration apparatus. Dew-point corrosion due to sulfuric acid produced from SO3 can be prevented, the deterioration of the catalyst for the denitration can also be prevented and the life of the apparatus is prolonged.
