Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve combustion by engendering strong turbulence in the combustion chamber during compression in such a way that deeper recessed parts are formed by leaving the rim part on the lateral side of a cavity for a combustion chamber formed at the top part of a piston of a Diesel engine.
CONSTITUTION: A cavity 12 as a combustion chamber is formed at the top part of a piston 11. Two places of recessed parts 16 are symmetrically formed by leaving the rim part 15 on the piston side outside this cavity 12. Therefore, at the time of compression strokes, air flow is inducted from a recessed part 14 through the rim part 15 into the cavity 12, big turbulence is engendered in the cavity 12.
