Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Pyrazole derivatives of formula I (R1, R2 are straight-chained or branched alkyl; X is Cl, Br, I).
EXAMPLE: 5-Chloro-4-(2,4-diechlorobenzoyl)-1,3-dimethylpyrazole.
USE: A synthetic intermediate for herbicide.
PREPARATION: The reaction between a compound of formula II and a reactive derivative of benzoic acid of formula III (acid halide, acid anhydride, preferably acid chloride, especially 2,4-dichlorobenzoyl chloride is effected in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst, preferably aluminum chloride to prepare the objective compound of formula I. The resulting compound is heated along with an alkali metal hydroxide or hydrosulfide to give the compound of formula V used for a herbicide.
