Abstract
PURPOSE: To make average pressure without faulty seam portion by inserting the metal plate whose longitudinal coefficient is smaller than that of the seamed object between the pressure die and the seamed object with the melting point higher than the diffusion seam temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The seamed object 1, 1 is heated by the heaters 2, 2 and is applied pressure by the pressure ram 4, 4 through the pressure dies 3, 3. The whole of them is stored in vacuum or in antioxidizing atmosphere. The metal plate 5, 5 is inserted between the die 3, 3 and the seamed object 1, 1. This metal plate should provide the higher melting point than the diffusion seam temperature and also should be softer than the seamed object. In case the seamed object is steel and seam temperature is 950°C, Ni is suitable as the material. As this, Ti, Zr, Al, alloy of Al, Ag, Pb and so on are used corresponding to the seam temperature. To prevent the seam of this metal plate, the inhibitors such as Al2O3, etc. are applied.
