Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a compact pickup unit of improved short-wave-length sensitivity by forming stably and thinly the semiconductor substrate of a charge transfer element such as CCD in the same structure as a color separation prism.
CONSTITUTION: Light beam 12 having passed through pickup lens 11 strikes color separation prism 13 composed of three blocks 13-1, 13-2 and 13-3. Between the 1st and 2nd blocks, 1st multilayer interference film 14 is formed which reflects blue light beam 12-B and allows other light beams to pass through and the 2nd and 3rd blodks, 2nd multilayer interference film 15 is also formed which reflects red light beam 12-R and allows green light beam 12-G to pass through. Then, three CCDs 16, 17 and 18 are fixed to the light projective surface, where light from the reverse surface of the semiconductor strikes. Blue light beam 12-B is image-formed by blue CCD16 to obtain a blue signal from output terminal EB, red light beam 12-R is image-formed by CCD17 to obtain a red signal from output terminal ER, and green light beam 12-G is image-formed by CCD18 to obtain a green signal from output terminal EG.
