Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the durability of a mechanical seal, by providing a rotary slide ring with a large-diameter part and setting the slide ring in contact with a fixed ring so that intermittent contact surfaces are formed on the contact sides of these rings and communicate with an oil chamber.
CONSTITUTION: The fixed ring 6 is provided on an annular support 4 which is fixed in a wall 5 and movably fitted on a motor shaft 1 extending from an oil chamber 3 to a shaft box 2. The rotary slide ring 7 is provided on a rotary annular support 8 mounted on the motor shaft 1. The sides 6a, 7a of both the rings are set in contact with each other by a spring 9. The rotary slide ring 7 is provided with the large-diameter part R2 so that the intermittent contact surfaces 10 are formed on the sides of the rings and communicate with the oil chamber 3. Oil is thus automatically supplied to the sliding sides of the rings 6, 7. This results in maintaining good lubrication and greatly raising the durability of the mechanical seal.
