Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the off gauge at the leading and trailing ends at the cold rolling and make biting easy by rolling the leading or trailing end of a strip thiner than the normal plate thickness portion in the central part in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:With a hot strip finishing plant 9, the pass of the leading end of the material is detected with a rolling load detector 7 and the screw down device 8 of the F6 stand is moved upward according to the preset time relation, whereby the roll gap is increased. As a result, the plate thickness at the leading end of the strip becomes subsequently thicker. In the central part in the longitudinal direction, rolling of a constant plate thickness is accomplished. When the trailing end of the strip passes the F1 stand, this is detected with a rolling load detector 6 to lower the screw-down device 8 of the F6 stand and decrease the roll gap. The plate thickness at the trailing end of the strip will then become gradually thinner. This strip coil makes biting to cold rolling rolls good and enables the strip of the plate thickness uniform in the lengthwise direction to be obtained.
