Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the air flow rate following the variation in the feed flow rate accurately and rapidly, by changing the ratio set value according to the catalyst temperature and feed flow rate.
CONSTITUTION: The output signals V1 and V2 of the temperature controller 9 and the feed flow rate transmitter 5 are input to the arithmetic unit 13 before the air ratio setter 10, nd the output is given to the setter 10 as a ratio set value of the ratio operational expression to perform the ratio operation. The correct air flow rate for maintaining the temperature of the catalyst layer 7 in the gas reformer 1 at a given value is determined according to the variation in the feed flow rate V2, and given to the air flow rate controller 11 as a preset value V0 and compared with the actual air flow rate V3. The valve 12 is closed and opened to make the air flow rate V3 equal to the air preset value to supply air to the reformer 1 at the correct air flow rate corresponding to the variation in the flow rate V2 via the air conduit 3.
