Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove effectively corrosive gases by passing a gas containing corrosive gases through an activated carbon filter, subjecting the gas to photooxidation, and then passing the gas through an activated carbon filter.
CONSTITUTION: In a geothermal power plant, an industrial district, etc., a gas containing corrosive gases such as sulfer dioxide, hydrogen chloride, etc. is passed through a front stage activated carbon filter 2 by means of a fan 1 to adsorb and remove oxides for which the activated carbon possesses great adsorption holding power among corrosive gases. Then, an ultraviolet ray irradiation 3 is carried out, and the corrosive gases after passing through the filter 2 and said oxides are subjected to photooxidation, and then are passed through a rear stage activated carbon filter 5 to remove almost completely the corrosive gases. The process can be applied to precision machines, etc. to prevent the corrosion of the machines.
