Abstract
PURPOSE: An inexpensive high-strength and low-expansion alloy consisting primarily of a Fe-Ni alloy with a specific composition, containing Mo, Cr, C, Si, and deoxidizing elements, e.g., Mn, Al, Mg, Ti, and Ca.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy contains 38 to 48% Ni, 0.5 to 4.0% Mo, 0.3 to 2.0% Cr(however, 1.0 to 5.0% Mo + Cr), 0.1 to 1.5% Si, and Fe and deoxidizing elements(≤1.5% Mn and ≤0.1% each of Al, Mg, Ti, and Ca). the thermal expansion coefficient and tensile strength of the low-expansion alloy are ≤5×10-6/°C on the average between room temperature and 300°C and ≥120 kg/mm2 (for hard alloy) and ≥80kg/mm2(for soft alloy), respectively.
