Abstract
PURPOSE: The title emulsion capable of improving the penetration into the corneum, comprising Tolnaftate effective against fungi, e.g. dermatophytosis and tinea, and a specific ester emulsified in water with an emulsifier.
CONSTITUTION: N-Methyl-N-(3-toloyl)thiocarbamic acid 2-naphthyl ester, i.e. Tolnaftate, and one or two or more types of dilower alkyl esters of phthalic, succinic, maleic, adipic, or sebacic acid are dissolved in ordinary fats and oils completely. An emulsifier and water are added to emulsify the solution to give a stabilized Tolnaftate-containing emulsion, free from depositing Tolnaftate crystals for a long time. The cmulsion permits improved penetration of Tolnaftate into the skin corneum.
