Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the subject method comprising the stops of: suspending zinc or zinc alloy powders in a zinc or zinc alloy plating solution, and applying an electrolysis thereto cause the powders to be eutectic in the plated layer thereby to manufacture the subject thicked steel sheet in a short time advantageously.
CONSTITUTION: Zinc or zinc alloy powders each having a grain size of less than 200 microns is suspened in zinc a zinc alloy electroplating sulution in a concentration of about 5 to 200g/l. Since these powders are slowly dissolved in the electrolyte, it is effective to apply, for example, a chromate treatment, a phosphate treatment or a thin resin coating on the surfaces of the powders thereby to suppress the dissolution velocity of the powders. The plating solution in which the powders have been suspended is electroplated under agitation on the steel plate at a temperature maintained in the range of from 10 to 75°C and a current density of 1 to 50 A/dm2, thereby causing the powders to be eutectic in the plated layers. The thus obtained zinc coated steel sheet is applied to a leveler, if necessary, or it rolled under a light pressure of about 0.2 to 5% thereby to form smooth surfaces.
