Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the immersion plating of lead or lead alloy on cast iron or steel and attain a high corrosion resistance for the plated film, by chemically plating copper, palladium and phosphorus-containing nickel alloy sequentially on the cast piece before the immersion plating. CONSTITUTION:The copper is chemically plated on the cast iron or steel piece such as a bolt or nut so that the surface property of the cast piece is made uniform. The palladium is chemically plated on the copper to activate the surface. The nickel alloy containing 0.5 to 16.0% by weight of phosphorus is chemically plated on the palladium in order to produce a firm alloy layer with the lead or lead alloy. The lead or lead alloy is then immersion-plated on the nickel alloy.
