Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the rigidity of a spiral spring against horizontal force by spirally winding an elastic material with a roughly rectangular cross-section in such a manner that the long side is positioned on the same plane viewed from the cross- section. CONSTITUTION:An elastic material 2 with a roughly rectangular cross-section is spirally wound and mount holes 2a to 2c are drilled on the straight line passing through both the ends of the material 2. The spring thus obtained is mounted to a displacement meter of differential transformer type through a support member 4. If a force is applied on the core 6 from below, springs 1 and 1 are displaced upward. But as the elastic material 2 is rectangular and moreover, it is formed so that the long side is positioned on the same plane viewed from the cross-section, the horizontal rigidity of the spring is great enough to minimize the horizontal deviation of the core 6. Accordingly, it is possible to eliminate ''chattering'' or the like otherwise caused by contact of the core 6 with a coiled inner cylidner 3.
