Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain through coating a powder drug having improved dispersion properties in water a gain and capable of reaching the effective blood concentration quickly, by a simple method wherein a slightly water-soluble drug is ground in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble high polymer substance and dried.
CONSTITUTION: A slightly water-insoluble drug is ground in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble high polymer substance, e.g., hydroxypropyl cellulose, CMC, gelatin, etc. and dried so that the powder drug is coated. The coating is also carried out by grinding the drug in an aqueous solution of a thermally gelling water-soluble high polymer substance, followed by gelation through heating, separation, drying, and application. In grinding, a wet grinder, e.g., ball mill, etc. is used to give particle diameters of preferably not more than 5μ. Spray drying is preferable in drying preventing the enlargement of the particles through agglomeration and growth of primary particles. A solid drug obtained from pharmaceutical manufacturing of the powder drug has also good dispersion properties in water again.
