PURPOSE:To enable to obtain time lags of printing signals easily and economically by a method wherein the staggers among three primary color ink jet heads sequentially arranged along the rotational scanning direction of a rotary drum are corrected by the time lags of printing signals. CONSTITUTION:At the time of color printing, a color signal processing circuit 71 is actuated to jet the first primary color ink from an ink jet head 31 and, simultaneously, magnetic recording is conducted on magnetic recording media 41 and 42 by recording magnetic heads 51 and 52. Accordingly, when the drum 1 has just rotated through a distance span (d) in the direction of arrow A, the magnetic record on the magnetic recording medium 41 is read by a reading magnetic head 61; when the drum 1 has just rotated through a distance span 2d, the record on the magnetic recording medium 42 is read by a reading magnetic head 62.
