Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a solid-state pickup unit with picture elements shifted spatially, by passing signals, color-separated from the outputs of two two-dimensional solid-state pickup elements, through fixed filters. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of two pickup elements arranged in the spatial picture-element shifting method are color-separated; a green signal of a broad band is supplied to terminal 34, and that of a low frequency range is led to terminal 35 while red and blue signals are supplied to terminals 36 and 37 respectively. Next, the green signal of the broad band is sent to encoder 47 as the high-frequency component of a luminance signal by way of BPF40 which has the upper-limited frequency a half the sample frequency of the signal and the lower-limited frequency a quarter the upper-limited frequency. Further, input signals from terminals 35, 36 and 37 are passed through LPF44, 45 and 46 with the cutting-off frequencies a half corresponding sample frequencies. Thus, a video signal of high resolution can be obtained from encoder 47.
