Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high performance and high strength electrode plate in a short drying time by a procedure in which a slurried mixture consisting of any one or all of water and dilute sulfuric acid and lead power is coated on a lattice and dried, and then a pasty acitive material is filled between the lattices. CONSTITUTION:A mixture consisting of any one or all of water and dilute sulfuric acid and lead powder is conditioned into a pasty or slurry, and then the paste or slurry is coated thinly on the surface of the lattice 1, dried slightly at approx. 60 deg.C to form a very thin lead oxide layer 3 on the surface of the lattice 1. Then, the paste 4 is filled between the lattices and then dried, where moisture present between the tip 5 of the lattice and the surface point 6 of the electrode plate is made lesser than that present at the central part 7 of the electrode and therefore drying proceeds at faster rate because of the presence of dried thin lead oxide layer surrounding the lattice 1. The said mixture is preferably prepared by mixing 1kg of lead powder and 200-300ml of water to a slurry.
