Abstract
PURPOSE: A control agent against an adhesive marine organism, e.g. a hard-shelled mussel, blue mussel or ascidian, usable for a seawater cooling system or fishing net, and comprising a β-hydroxy-substituted aliphatic amine which has hitherto been used as a surfactant or its acid addition salt, as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A control agent against an adhesive marine organism, comprising a β-hydroxy-substituted aliphatic amine, e.g. N,N-dimethyl-β-hydroxy-decylamine, of the formula [R is 8W28C alkyl or alkenyl group; R' is amino, lower alkylamino or dilower alkylamino group (the lower alkyl groups may be substituted by an amino group; the carbon numbers of the two alkyl groups in the dilower alkyl-substituted amino group may be different)] or its acid addition salt as an active constituent. For example, the agent in the form of a solution is added to a seawater cooling system, or a fishing net is immersed in or coated with the agent in a liquid coating preparation to prevent a marine organism from attaching.
