Abstract

PURPOSE: A thermosetting resin composition for molding that contains a resin resulting from addition reaction of maleic anhydride to a specific unsaturated epoxy ester resin, thus being capable of filling even fine cavities in the mold.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 30 W 90wt% of resin of formula IV that is prepared by adding 2 W 10 mol%, based on the hydroxyl group, of maleic anhydride to the unsaturated eposy ester resin of formula III resulting from addition reaction between a polyepoxide of formula I (R1W3 are H, alkyl) and about equimolar amount of an α,β-unsaturated monobasic acid formula II (R4W6 are H, alkyl) in the presence of an addition reaction catalyst and a polymerization inhibitor at 80W120°C is dissolved in (B) 70 W 10wt% of an α,β-ethylenic unsaturated monomer as styrene or acrylic acid.
