Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain polyurethane having good heat resistance, mechanical properties, resistance to hydrolysis and low-temperature characteristics, by a method wherein a raction product of polyether polyol with caprolactone is reacted with an org. diisocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: (a) A polyether polyol having hydroxyl end g;. obtd. by the addition polymn. of an alkylene oxide such as ethylene oxide to a polyhydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, or glycerol is copolymerized with (b) a caprolactone such as monomethyl-ε-caprolactone, monopropyl-ε-caprolactone in the prsence of a polymn. initiator at a temp. of 150W250°C to obtain a copolymer (A). The copolymer (A) is reacted with (B) an org. diisocyanate such as 2,4-thlylene diisocyanate to produce the desired polyurethane.
