Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide low mechanical anisotropy and superior machinability to a structural steel as hot worked without carrying out refining such as hardening or tempering by composing the steel of a specified amount each of C, Si, Mn, S, Te and V and/or Nb, and the balance Fe, etc. and allowing the form of sulfide type inclusions to satisfy specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: This steel is composed of C<0.6%, Si<2.5%, Mn<2%, S< 0.4%, Te<0.1% (Te/S<0.04), V<0.5% and/or Nb<0.5%, and the balance Fe, etc., and the following conditions are satisfied: most, preferably almost all of sulfide type inclusions of 5μ or more in the major axis present in the matrix are not drawn into excessively linear form and have a major to minor axis ratio of 10 or less.
