Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a formed article by a method, when the formed article is cut, that fibers do not separate from a cutting body to the formed article from the cut face of which fibers do not separate by using heating plates with a particular convex part on at least one of them when forming aromatic polyamide with a pair of heating plates.
CONSTITUTION: Aromatic polyamide is press-formed with a pair of heating plates 6 and 7 with a convex part along the cutting line of the polyamide at least on one of them. For example, a lamination 4 of plural numbers of aromatic polyamide papers non-treated by a hot calender or a lamination 5 consisting of polyamide short fibers and fibrid-coupled molecules is made. Placing such a lamination on the heating plate 7 and lowering the heating plate 6 with a convex part 6a arranged above the former plate, the lamination is press-formed. By so doing, the compressing force in a part 8a pressed by the convex part 6a becomes above the melt-welding force of aromatic polyamide, and the pressed part 8a and the both sides of it, 8b nad 8c, melt, therefore, the separation of fibers on the cut face can be prevented.
