Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve impact resistance, mold release characteristics, tensile strength and tinting of styrene resin, by a method wherein a specified amount of at leaset one higher fatty ester is blended with impact-resistant styrene resin.
CONSTITUTION: Titled stryrene resin compsns. are obtd. by a method wherein (b) 0.5W10pts.wt., pref. 0.5W3pts.wt. at least one higher fatty ester derived from 12W22C satd. or unsaturated fatty acid, and 4W22C monovalent aliph. alcohol is blended with (a) 100pts.wt. of impact-resistant styrene resin obtd. by bulk polymn., bulk-suspension polymn. or solution polymn. of polymerizable vinyl-substd. arom. compd. such as styrene, nuclear substd. styrene in the presence of a rubber such as polybutadiene or styrene-butadiene rubber. Preferable higher fatty esters are those having a b.p. of not lower than 200°C such as stearyl stearate or palmityl palmitate.
