Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in the accuracy of flaw detection and the improvement in production efficiency by mounting acoustoelectric transducers to the steel product and detecting the production of flaws based on the electric signals output by the acousto-electric transducers during surface hardening to the steel product.
CONSTITUTION: The gear GR mounted with the sensors 1aW1d comprising using acousto-electric transducers is put into a high-frequency hardening device and while it is being subjected to hardening, the circuits of the sensors 1aW1d and afterward are driven, whereby the flaw defection is accomplished. When hardening cracking occurred during the treatment, the elastic waves of a high level are produced and therefore the main amplifier output of the elastic waves taken into a main amplifier 6 through a channel selector 3 from the sensors 1aW1d exceeds the threshold level Th of a level discriminator 7, by which the plural pulse signals are output to a counter 8. The counter 8 counts these and when the count value reaches the set value, an alarm device 9 actuates to alarm the occurrence of hardening cracking.
