Abstract
PURPOSE:To permit an automatic coating operation without resting on the hands of operator by a method in which the shape of an object to be coated is detected automatically and according to detection signal, coating program is read out of a memory. CONSTITUTION:The coveyer 12 runs, the objects 13-17 are moved in the direction of A, and the generator 23 outputs n number of pulses per unit of running amount. By the pulses, signals as the logic 1 from the flip-flop 37a are supplied to each of the AND gates 38-40. When all light of the luminiferous devices 26-28 are shielded by the object 15, a signal as the logic 1 is outputted and supplied to the AND gates 38-40, pulse of the generator 23 is outputted and supplied to each of the counters 41-43, and a signal as the logic 1 is outputted from the light receivers 29 and 31 to stop pulse from the generator 23. As a result, discrete values corresponding to the length a of the object 15 are stored.
