Abstract

PURPOSE: A colorant that contains a specific compound resulting from heating indigo or its derivative together with an acid chloride, thus coloring transparent organic high-molecular-weight compounds bright red with strong fluorescence and showing satisfactory breed and light resistance.
CONSTITUTION: The objective colorant contains a compound of formula I (X is chlorine, or bromine; n, m are 0W2; R is H, chlorine, bromine, methyl, phenyl, benzoring). The colorant is obtained, e.g., by heating indigo or its derivative of formula I such as (5,5'-dichloro)indigo together with phenylacetic acid or o-chlorophenylacetic acid or its derivative of formula III in an inert solvent boiling at a higher temperature. In compounds of formula I, all of them except those in which R is H and n and m are 0 are novel.
EFFECT: The colorant has excellent heat and chemical resistance.
