Abstract

PURPOSE: Atomized water is added to the air saturated with moisture and then the water drops are removed to form the air supersaturated with moisture, which is supplied enough to promote the multiplication of mycelia and spores in seed malt.

The resulting supersaturated air is supplied through switching valve 5 into the heat-insulated cultivation chamber 1, whereby the substrate 2 is kept at a level of 43W46% in water content. The switching valve is sometimes operated so that the uniform supply of the air is maintained. The cultivation is conducted by charging the starting materials at 30°C, effecting the first mixing between 17W20hr and the second mixing between 19W22hr, simultaneously raising the temperature of the substrate to about 40°C, then lowering the temperature to increase the water content on the surface to promote the growth of mycelia and spores.
