Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture high purity ammonium molybdate from a soln. contg. V and Mo extracted with alakli by concentrating the soln. to crystallize V salt and Mo salt and subjecting an aqueous soln. obtd. by dissolving the crystals to double decomposition and hydrolysis.
CONSTITUTION: A soln. contg. V, Mo, etc. extracted from catalyst with alkali is concentrated to deposit crystals contg. sodium vanadate and sodium molybdate. The crystals are separated, dissolved in water, and adjusted to pH about 7.5W9.5 with sulfuric acid. After removing aluminum hydroxide deposited, ammonium sulfate is added to deposit the V component as ammonium vanadate by double decomposition. This ammonium vanadate is separated by filtration, and sulfuric acid is added to the filtrate, thereby hydrolyzing ammonium molybdate contained to deposit molybdic acid crystals, which are then filtered, dissolved in NH3 water, and recrystallized to obtain high purity ammonium molybdate.
