Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of cracks in a weld, by specifying an electric resistance welding of steel pipe materials and end fittings. CONSTITUTION:An electric heating device 6 is disposed around end fittings 2 that are placed on a mouth edge of a pipe end of a steel pipe material 1 supported by means of a chuck 4 doubling as an electrode, are pushed by means of a push operating rod 5 doubling as an electrode and a carburizing hardening layer is formed on the wall surface. Electricity is conducted to an electric heater 6 to heat contact portions at approximate 600 deg.C as pushing the end fittings 2 to the mouth edge of the pipe end of the steel pipe material 1 by means of the push operating rod 5 while AC in 10000Angstrom /cm<2> are conducted for 2/100 second, the currents of the electric heating device 6 are slowly decreased just after conduction and the currents are interrupted after approximate two second. Thus, the formation of cracks in the carburizing hardening layer of the end fittings 2 is prevented because the quenching of a weld of the end fittings 2 and the steel pipe material 1 is moderated.
