Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain title polymer useful for paint and packing material, by a method wherein the desired metal incorporated into a chemical plating bath is reduced in the presence of finely divided polymer particles, which are in a dispersed state, in order to deposit the metal as finely divided metal particles.
CONSTITUTION: Finely divided polymer particles having a particle diameter of 0.001W100μm, pref. 0.05W1μm are sued which are obtd. from emulsion polymn., etc. of a vinyl monomer such as vinyl acetate, acrylic ester, styrene, butadiene, vinyl chloride or tetrafluoroethylene. A chemical plating bath contg. the desired metal is mixed with a mixed liquid contg. the finely divided polymer particles, which are in a dispersed state, and noble metal salt as a catalyst in an amount of not more than 25wt%. pref. 5wt% based on the weight of solids of polumer latex. Metal ion present in the plating bath is reduced to deposit in the dispersion medium the disired metal as ultrafine particles in the state uniformly mixed with finely divided polymer particles in order to obtain the desired polymer contg. finely divided metal particles dispersed therein.
