Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the active material from getting soft and dropping off and to prevent plates from cracking after pressing, by pressing a group of plates using pressing boards having integrally molded projections which overlap each other when the plates are pressed in the laminating direction with the pressing boards on both ends of the plates. CONSTITUTION:The pressing boards 1, 1' having overlapping projections 2, 2' are made of thermoplastic resin such as polypropylene, thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin, glass fiber reinforced or metal inserted resin, or ebonite. The pressing board is equal to or a little larger than the separator. Positive and negative plates are piled one over the other with separators and glass mats interlayed between them. The pile is pressed under a pressure of 40-120kg/dm<2>, and the positive and negative plate straps 3 and 3' are welded. Finally, the projections 2, 2' are fixed while keeping the group of plates under pressure.
