Abstract

PURPOSE:A two-layer cleansing lotion having beautiful appearance wherein the oil and aqueous layers are clearly separated on standing, comprising a specific alkyl ether, ester oil, alcohol, water-soluble salt and water in a specified proportion. CONSTITUTION:A lotion comprising (A) 0.02-1wt.% of a polyoxyethylene alkyl phenyl ether of formula I (R is 6-18C alkyl group; R' is group of formula II or III; n is an integer 2-20), (B) 1-30wt.% of a branched chain ester oil, (C) 1- 10wt.% of a liquid polyhydric alcohol, (D) 0.1-1.0wt.% of a water-soluble salt and (E) 30-95wt.% of water. The lotion becomes an emulsion, wherein the oil layer is dispersed uniformly in the aqueous layer, on shaking, removes oily stains from the skin surface, and softens the skin. After use, the layers are separated to form a stable emulsion capable of giving a constant concentration at any time.
