Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the slackening of a ribbon liable to occur after the color of the ribbon being changed as well as the mixed-color printing thereby caused by perfoming a proper amount of ribbon feeding concurrently with the action for selecting the color of ribbon in the case where a plural-color ribbon is employed for printing.
CONSTITUTION: When printing data from outside are received by a printer, motors 17 and 18 are driven and a desired type on a print head 12 is selected. Concurrently, a carriage moves to the next printing position along a guide shaft 20 and the printing is conducted. On the occasion, if a signal for selecting a ribbon has been inputted, a solenoid 15 is driven prior to printing to move a ribbon cartridge 13 vertically, thereby a desired color being selected. Then a ribbon-feeding control part starts and operates ribbon feeding in the amount required for absorbing the slackening of ribbon and, after that, a hammer 11 being operated, the printing is performed.
