Abstract

PURPOSE:To apply a gas bearing to a motor, which turns at relatively low speed, without an air-pump by providing a spiral groove to the outer circumference of the rotor and by making it act as a dynamic pressure gas bearing. CONSTITUTION:To rotor 2 with a rotor yoke that consists of the magnet 3, inner and outer magnetic paths 2a, 2b is attached to the motor shaft 1, which is auxiliarily supported by the magnetic bearing 6 mounted on the central part of the upper case, the motor shaft is further supported at the central part of the surface of the case 7 in the direction of the thrust. Many spiral grooves 13 are formed on the outer circumferential face A of the outer magnetic path 2b of the rotor yoke from the upper and lower sides to the central part of the rotor in the direction opposite to the rotation direction of the rotor 2 to make up a journal gas bearing. Also other spiral grooves 14 of the same pitch as the said spiral groove 13 are provided to the upper and lower end faces B, C of the rotor 2 to introduce air from the small holes 8 drilled in both the case 7 and the upper case 11 into the rotor side along the spiral groove 14.
