Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover tin containing no oxide in high yield by a method wherein the quantity of caustic alkali in an electrolyte, the current density of anodes and the liquid temperature of an electrolytic bath are controlled when tin is continuously recovered from scraps plated with tin when cans are manufactured.
CONSTITUTION: A caustic alkali electrolyte 2 of 50W120g/l is injected in an electrolytic bath 1, and liquid temperature is kept at 70W95°C by means of a heating apparatus. Scrap plates 10 functioning as anodes are worked in nonflat shapes by means of a press roller 11, forwarded into the electrolyte 2 and steeped. Molten tin from the scrap plates 10 is electrodeposited on the surfaces of electric conductors 21 functioning as cathodes during the time when the electric conductors 21 advance in the electrolyte 2. The current density of the anodes is controlled in 2W6A/dm2 at that time. The electric conductors 21 on which tin is electrodeposited are pulled up from the electrolyte 2, and the tin electrodeposited in a plating shape is stripped off and collected. According to this method, tin is smoothly dissolved and electrodeposited, and tin with high quantity is continuously recovered.
